A short story on how to deal with rejection

A journalist went to interview a holy man already deciding he hated spiritual people.

They met and the holy man was beaming and smiling as they do. And the journalist said: If I'm being honest, I can't stand three-huggers like you. This is all pseudo, it's all fake, you are not really spiritual and I don't really like you.

The holy man smiled even more. So the journalist cranked up even more and continued to tell the holly man why he disliked him, but the holy man continued to beam and smile. So finally the journalist said: why are you still smiling? What are you smiling about? Then the holy man said: Well, you see...if you give me a gift but I don't take the gift, who has the gift? The journalist: mmm me? The holy man: Exactly! I'm not taking what you're trying to give me. And if I'm not taking it, it's left with you.
